1. Introduction

Globe Guessr is a geography guessing game made by VitalApps Ltd, a UK-registered company. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. The short version: you can play without an account, we collect the minimum needed to run online features, and we never sell your data.

2. Information We Collect

If you sign in (optional)

• Google account email — used only as the key for your game account when you choose "Sign in with Google". Sign-in is handled by Google; we never see your password. Your email is never shown to other players.
• Username — a display name you choose yourself. This is public: it appears on leaderboards and in multiplayer games. It does not have to be your real name.
• Country — the two-letter country from your device's language settings (for example "GB"), shown as a small flag next to your name on leaderboards.

Gameplay data

• Scores and stats — points, ELO rating, XP, games played, wins and losses, and daily-challenge streaks, stored against your account so rankings work across sessions.

On your device only

• Preferences — sound and music volume, units, map style, and haptics settings are stored locally on your device and never leave it.

What we do not collect

• No location tracking. The places you see in the game are game content — the app never reads your GPS or physical location.
• No contacts, photos, files, or microphone access.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To run online features: accounts, leaderboards, multiplayer matches, and party lobbies.
• To keep rankings fair and remove abusive usernames.
• We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.

4. Data Storage & Security

Account and gameplay data is stored on our game server and transmitted over encrypted connections. Google sign-in uses Google's own token system: Google confirms who you are directly to our server, and no password ever passes through the app.

5. Third-Party Services

• Google Sign-In — optional account sign-in, governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google AdMob — shows adverts in the app and may use your device's advertising identifier, governed by Google's advertising policies. You can reset or limit the advertising ID in your device settings.
• Google Street View & Maps imagery — rounds display imagery in an embedded Google viewer, subject to Google's terms and privacy policy.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time inside the app: Settings → Delete Account. This immediately and irreversibly removes your username, email link, ELO, XP and match history from our server. If you play as a guest, clearing the app's data on your device removes everything.

7. Your Rights (UK / EEA Users)

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. The in-app deletion covers erasure instantly; for anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Globe Guessr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we change this policy we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
